Pottermore

So I decided to visit Pottermore the other day. Basically Pottermore is just all fun stuff to do with the Harry Potter films. The main reason I visited the site was so that I could be sorted into my house at Hogwarts. I had to answer a series of questions. Here’s what the Sorting Hat told me:

I belong to house Hufflepuff

At least I get Cedric Diggory 😎

Star Wars Superimposed

How many of you have the Star Wars app on your phones? I’ve had it for a few months and its a pretty cool novelty. My family and I were messing around with the photo superimposing aspect of the app and I got some pretty cool shots of my dad and brother:

Cartoon Horrors

Ok seriously, some adults don’t know the trauma they beset upon their kids when they let them watch certain cartoons…

Sid from Toy Story

Sid from Toy Story

Everyone thinks Sid and his mutated toys from Toy Story are pretty scary, but they really didn’t bother my brother and I as kids (5 and 7). However, there is one cartoon that totally messed my brother and I up emotionally and psychologically. The Lady and the Tramp…

Siamese Cats from Lady and the Tramp

Siamese Cats from Lady and the Tramp

The whole movie had a dark/grunge tone to it, but that scene with the Siamese cats was akin to the twin girls walking out of that elevator in The Shining. To this day my brother and I cringe at just the mention of these cats… We tried to watch the scene now that we are older, but we couldn’t lol πŸ˜₯ so creepy.

WARNING ->Β HERE IS THE SIAMESE CAT SCENE!Β <- ENTER AT OWN RISK

Why were you a part of my childhood πŸ˜₯ it was perfect until you blemished it πŸ˜₯ Did anyone else have trauma for life after watching Lady and the Tramp? If not, what cartoon do you think is worse than this one??

Disobedient Dragons

So I drew a parallel a while back (but am only blogging about it now). There are a lot of disobedient dragons in the universe.

At the end of this season of Game of Thrones; we see Drogon being disobedient. Daenerys Targaryen asks the largest of her three dragons to take her back to where she was just saved from (in the fighting pits), but Drogon ignored her request due to injury:

Drogon

Drogon

I don’t think a lengthy discussion about the relationship between Ash and Charizard is even necessary (I know Charizard is not necessarily a dragon, but he flies and breathes fire so πŸ™‚ ). Charizard initially never listened to Ash (because there was a lack of respect); and he only willingly battled opponents who he thought would be worthy of him (challenged him appropriately):

I love dragons – especially the tales of the ones found in Middle Earth. Who is your favourite disobedient dragon?

Merchandise Monday #42

You shouldn’t get stuck in traffic with Robocop’s Ford Taurus police car! My brother and I dug up our toy car from the original Robocop:

Robocop Police Car

Robocop Police Car

The toy car we have is kind of beat up (because we actually played with it), only in our old age have we realised that we should never have played with some of our toys – buy hey, kids need to have fun and live a little too:

The toy Robocop police car is one of those pull/drag-back wind-up cars. When you release it; it propels the car according to the distance you cranked up on reverse:

We used wind-up cars like this as bowling balls; to knock over rows of lined-up villains. Do you have any cool vintage toys to share with us?

Jon Snow’s death mirrors Julius Caesar’s assassination

Julius Caesar was the dictator of the Roman Empire; and Jon Snow was Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch – both leaders in their time (and worlds – real and not); they seem to have encountered a similar fate.

Julius Caesar assassination

Julius Caesar assassination

On the day of his death; Julius Caesar received a petition from Tillius Cimber, asking Caesar to recall his exiled brother. Similarly, Olly came to Jon Snow to tell him that a Wildling had information on the whereabouts of Jon’s uncle.

Caesar’s conspirators surrounded him; just as Jon was surrounded by his Watch brothers.

Caesar was then stabbed 23 times by his conspirators. Jon was stabbed multiple times by his Watch brothers.

Jon Snow

Jon Snow

Suetonius reported that some conspirators recall Caesar’s last words to be, “you too, child?” In response to Brutus also betraying him. If this is true; this is akin to Jon saying, “no Olly, don’t…” before Olly stabs him.

Jon Snow death

Jon Snow death

After the assassination of Caesar, the conspirators walked Rome shouting,Β “people of Rome, we are once again free!” Every time Jon was stabbed by his Watch brothers; they said, “for the Watch.” Both the conspirators and the Watch brothers wanted to free their community of leaders who had an alternative vision to what they believed in.

Both Caesar’s and Jon’s bodies were left/abandoned where they had been killed. What do you think – does Jon Snow’s death mirror Julius Caesar’s assassination?
