Fandom Diorama Scene Creations

Ok, lets all just admit that we play with our toys (action figures, plushies) you name it, yes i’m not referring to the special ones that are still in the box…

The Force is strong with them...

The Force is strong with them…

Some of our fandom-following friends have gone to town on instagram (follow @fandelafandeli), taking the trouble to capture an action scene unfolding in a perfect second:

Who is your money on?

Who is your money on?

I could probably pull off something similar with micro-machines, or with Pokemon plushies. Most of my action figures are back in South Africa so i’m pretty limited for the time being.

Is there anyone in Sydney reading this who has some merch? Maybe we could pool resources to pull off our own fandom action sequence of shots? Let me know 😎

Merchandise Monday #56

You shouldn’t be surprised at all to know my brother bought one of those realistic lightsabers…

Darth Vader's Lightsaber

Darth Vader’s Lightsaber

He got the Darth Vader one, i wanted the Luke Skywalker one – just so we could have a showdown or something cool.

Darth Vader's Lighsaber

Darth Vader’s Lighsaber

The lightsaber makes the authentic noises when you wield it, and when you hit someone with it (yea i was attacking my brother with it).

Darth Vader's Lighsaber

Darth Vader’s Lighsaber

Would your lightsaber choice be based on colour or on the character who would have used it?

Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the wisest of them all 😎 Yoda of course! This is my Yoda from the Phantom Menace, at the Jedi Temple in his council chair:

He comes with a voice chip, I haven’t used it yet since he’s still in the box, but it obviously has some of his notable quotes:

The Palpatine figure looks cool too, would love to hear his quotes.

As you know Boba Fett is one of my fave Star Wars characters. This is a posable Disney action figure. He can ‘armour up’ with extra pieces of equipment:

Let’s go back to the 90s with  Star Wars Micro Machines! I know Micro Machines is still making Star Wars merchandise today, but I don’t feel the quality is the same as it was in the 90s:

Star Wars Micro Machines Cases

Star Wars Micro Machines Cases

The helmet cases open up to reveal specific scenes from the Star Wars universe. Some of the Micro Machine characters are so small, but the detail is still pretty good on that scale. Look how cute the little Ewok is below ❤ :

Some machines are bigger and have moving parts. The speeder below can ‘explode’ and disintegrate when you push a button (I think it’s about 4 parts assembled):

It’s my favorite place in the Star Wars universe: Jabba’s Palace! This is so cool, the trapdoor that Luke stands on actually does fall open when Jabba’s throne hits a weighted-lever. Of course the Rancor is waiting to receive Luke in the pit:

The next Micro Machine scene is the garbage compactor on the Death Star. Again, the chute to the garbage area actually opens and the figures can slide down. The walls also actually move to close in on the characters:

Where would we be without our two trusty droids, hmm? Let’s not leave out R2-D2 and C-3PO. Here they are in their escape pod headed for Tatooine:

The various Star Wars Micro Machine vehicles also have opening/ closing doors and cockpits for the figures to sit in, with other moving parts:

Star Wars Superimposed

How many of you have the Star Wars app on your phones? I’ve had it for a few months and its a pretty cool novelty. My family and I were messing around with the photo superimposing aspect of the app and I got some pretty cool shots of my dad and brother:

Han Solo in Carbonite

If you could be superimposed into the universe of Star Wars, what scene/ character would you choose? You’ll find me in Jabba’s Palace somewhere (hopefully not the Rancor pit).

Where’s the Wookiee! I got this awesome search and find book where you have to spot a Wookiee in the chaos of each destination’s theme:

Where's the Wookiee

Find these characters and more

The destinations take on some of our favorite planets and places from the Star Wars universe. I really love the cross-section details of buildings and vehicles throughout the book:

Ewok Village

Finding the Wookiee was pretty easy for most destinations, except for the obvious Kashyyyk (where there are only Wookiees abound):

Don’t worry if you find the Wookiee on every page, there is a whole list of other characters at the back of the book that you can go back and look for. I recommend Where’s the Wookiee for any Star Wars fan/ anyone ho appreciates detail, oh and of course the kids will love it too.

Star Wars at Madame Tussauds

If you are living in or around London you have to head over to Madame Tussauds, because they’re showcasing some awesome Star Wars scenes!

Star Wars Attack of the Clones

Star Wars Attack of the Clones

I went to London about 5 years ago, but they didn’t have the Star Wars section back then 😦

Star Wars Jabbas Palace

Star Wars Jabbas Palace

Overall there are 11 Star Wars scenes and 16 Star Wars characters  over a range of all 6 films to immerse you in this lovely sci-fi universe. The accuracy looks amazing.
