Merchandise Monday #56

You shouldn’t be surprised at all to know my brother bought one of those realistic lightsabers…

Darth Vader's Lightsaber

Darth Vader’s Lightsaber

He got the Darth Vader one, i wanted the Luke Skywalker one – just so we could have a showdown or something cool.

Darth Vader's Lighsaber

Darth Vader’s Lighsaber

The lightsaber makes the authentic noises when you wield it, and when you hit someone with it (yea i was attacking my brother with it).

Darth Vader's Lighsaber

Would your lightsaber choice be based on colour or on the character who would have used it?

Pottermore

So I decided to visit Pottermore the other day. Basically Pottermore is just all fun stuff to do with the Harry Potter films. The main reason I visited the site was so that I could be sorted into my house at Hogwarts. I had to answer a series of questions. Here’s what the Sorting Hat told me:

I belong to house Hufflepuff

I belong to house Hufflepuff

At least I get Cedric Diggory 😎

Tentacle Wars

I’ve been playing this game on my phone, it’s creepy but i’m totally loving it! Tentacle Wars takes place inside the body of an alien creature:

Tentacle Wars Game

Tentacle Wars Game

Basically you are the anti-bodies fighting a war against an infection/ disease within this alien creature (represented by the green and red microbes respectively):

Tentacle Wars Game

Tentacle Wars Game

It is a strategy game. You have to over-power the disease by ‘capturing’ those cells through extending a certain number of tentacles. However, sometimes enemy cells are more powerful than you, and you first have to accumulate neutral (grey) cells to aid your cause:

Sometimes you cannot attack enemy cells outright, because you will be blocked by other neutral cells which you cannot overpower. You have to plan how best to use your cell energy to capture the enemy (some ways are more efficient than others):

There are numerous zones within each level of the game, and as you guessed it – it gets progressively more difficult as you advance.

Can you save your alien host? Tentacle Wars is free on the app store!

Merchandise Monday #48

Where’s the Wookiee! I got this awesome search and find book where you have to spot a Wookiee in the chaos of each destination’s theme:

Where's the Wookiee

.

Find these characters and more

The destinations take on some of our favorite planets and places from the Star Wars universe. I really love the cross-section details of buildings and vehicles throughout the book:

Ewok Village

Finding the Wookiee was pretty easy for most destinations, except for the obvious Kashyyyk (where there are only Wookiees abound):

Don’t worry if you find the Wookiee on every page, there is a whole list of other characters at the back of the book that you can go back and look for. I recommend Where’s the Wookiee for any Star Wars fan/ anyone ho appreciates detail, oh and of course the kids will love it too.

Star Wars at Madame Tussauds

If you are living in or around London you have to head over to Madame Tussauds, because they’re showcasing some awesome Star Wars scenes!

Star Wars Attack of the Clones

I went to London about 5 years ago, but they didn’t have the Star Wars section back then 😦

Star Wars Jabbas Palace

Overall there are 11 Star Wars scenes and 16 Star Wars characters  over a range of all 6 films to immerse you in this lovely sci-fi universe. The accuracy looks amazing.

Let’s Make a Satellite!

I’ve been trying to educate myself on how to build a satellite. I don’t want to spy on anyone, and I don’t want to commandeer any Earth media to make derailed broadcasts or anything, but it’d be totally cool just to have your own satellite roaming in orbit and potentially exploring space. The problem with this is; most satellites are only for near-Earth orbit.

So I would use my satellite to try to communicate with potential aliens (yes I know there are qualified people already using sophisticated technology on these sorts of endeavors, but can we trust that these people are communicating the right messages on our behalf hmmm? Exactly!)

PocketQube Board

So basically my satellite would communicate my message representation of humanity (brief history, a future projection of our needs, and how we might expect to collaborate with the receivers of the information).

After a Google search, and 3 ambitious links later, I have more knowledge on how to build my satellite. However, building it is not as complicated as having to launch/ get it into space successfully. Apparently at the least it will cost US$ 40 000, and it will only probably stay in orbit for about 1 – 4 months. That’s a huge short term expense. Anyhow, you can buy parts (or a full satellite) from PocketQube, but it’s still pretty expensive. Would you go for this or somehow build your own?

Merchandise Monday #47

Happy Monday everyone! There is nothing greater than warming your Monday blues up with a basket of cute and cuddly Ewoks:

Ewok Basket

Ewok Basket

They are of course one of the most loved species in the Star Wars universe. I got this limited edition Ewok celebration basket from the Disney store. There are six Ewoks in total (Wicket, Chief Chirpa, Teebo, Logray, Romba and Princess Kneesaa):

My mom keeps talking to them when she comes in and out of my room; saying things like, “come Wombles, you must pay rent Wombles, you can’t live here for free…” So I was like, ‘WTF is a Womble?’ I looked these things up, and I was pretty insulted – I’m sure the Ewoks would tear these Womble things to shreds:

Oh, and I’m also petitioning to have the banishment of Logray overturned.

Tribal Wars 2

I have finally gotten around to playing Tribal Wars 2 for the first time! I’ve mostly been playing off the app on my phone, but the graphics are way better and more detailed than the first Tribal Wars.

Tribal Wars 2

Tribal Wars 2

There are some cool new evolutions to the game. I see there is no longer a stable. You recruit all your basic military units from the barracks (levelling up the barracks unlocks respective units). I’m pushing to level it up to the point where I can access light cavalry.

My Village - Mars

My Village – Mars

Also, now you can build a second village without having noblemen. You have to complete 50 time-based tasks before your second village is established. This is still great though, as you can split offensive and defensive armies from nearly the same time.

Village on the Map

Village on the Map

The Paladin also finds new weapons far quicker than the original Tribal Wars. I found 2 new weapons in one day! On the original version it would take me about a month to find 1 weapon (depending on units I killed).
