Merchandise Monday #57

I was scratching around in my cousin’s stuff and she has like this huge Harry Potter stash! Look, I found Dobby! He’s alive!

Dobby the House Elf

Dobby the House Elf

Is it creepy having a Dobby plush? Imagine waking up in the middle of the night and it’s just sitting there… Yikes! If you could have a house elf, would you? What would he be named?

You shouldn’t be surprised at all to know my brother bought one of those realistic lightsabers…

Darth Vader's Lightsaber

Darth Vader’s Lightsaber

He got the Darth Vader one, i wanted the Luke Skywalker one – just so we could have a showdown or something cool.

Darth Vader's Lighsaber

Darth Vader’s Lighsaber

The lightsaber makes the authentic noises when you wield it, and when you hit someone with it (yea i was attacking my brother with it).

Would your lightsaber choice be based on colour or on the character who would have used it?

As you know Boba Fett is one of my fave Star Wars characters. This is a posable Disney action figure. He can ‘armour up’ with extra pieces of equipment:

I plan on collecting most of the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars Vinyl Pops – they are so cute. Also, they are wonderful to display, because unlike most action figures, there’s little chance that these guys will fall over with their nugget-y proportions.

I’m keeping his packaging, but I am taking him out of the box. I think i’m going to leave him on my desk, as a sentry to ward off any bugs in my room – evil overlord of Dr Slater’s desk 😎 !

Merchandise Monday #50

Let’s go back to the 90s with  Star Wars Micro Machines! I know Micro Machines is still making Star Wars merchandise today, but I don’t feel the quality is the same as it was in the 90s:

Star Wars Micro Machines Cases

Star Wars Micro Machines Cases

The helmet cases open up to reveal specific scenes from the Star Wars universe. Some of the Micro Machine characters are so small, but the detail is still pretty good on that scale. Look how cute the little Ewok is below ❤ :

Some machines are bigger and have moving parts. The speeder below can ‘explode’ and disintegrate when you push a button (I think it’s about 4 parts assembled):

It’s my favorite place in the Star Wars universe: Jabba’s Palace! This is so cool, the trapdoor that Luke stands on actually does fall open when Jabba’s throne hits a weighted-lever. Of course the Rancor is waiting to receive Luke in the pit:

The next Micro Machine scene is the garbage compactor on the Death Star. Again, the chute to the garbage area actually opens and the figures can slide down. The walls also actually move to close in on the characters:

Where would we be without our two trusty droids, hmm? Let’s not leave out R2-D2 and C-3PO. Here they are in their escape pod headed for Tatooine:

The various Star Wars Micro Machine vehicles also have opening/ closing doors and cockpits for the figures to sit in, with other moving parts:

Merchandise Monday #45

Happy Monday! Wooo! So, since there’s still a lot of hype around Star Wars with the Force Awakens being released, I thought I’d share some more old school action figures (still in the boxes):

Old Ben Kenobi is a 1995 release.

Emperor Palpatine is a 1996 release.

I wish I had collected all the figures and vehicles in these sets, they look really awesome, and of course you don’t beat old style and quality, but I was only 4 or 5 years old back then, so my collection habits were heavily reliant on mom and dad.

Did everyone enjoy The Force Awakens? I thought it was ok, but I wasn’t totally satisfied.

Who of you Nerd Knights went to see the new Fast and Furious movie? None of my friends are really into fast cars and action ‘beat em up’ movies; so i haven’t seen it yet – i may have to go alone:

Anyhow i love the Fast and Furious franchise; so this merchandise Monday is dedicated to the muscle cars that our favorite characters have driven in the series:

Hot Wheels is co-branding with a lot of popular franchises these days (Disney – Star Wars; and Batman) to name a few. I haven’t bought all the cars in the Fast and Furious Hot Wheels collection; since i do have my favorites. I like Dom’s car (Dodge), and i love the styling and finishes of Brian’s cars. However; my true love will always be the Ford Mustang:

Ford Mustang 67 Fastback

In the Fast and Furious franchise; the character Sean Boswell drove a 1967 Ford Mustang fastback in Tokyo Drift. I love this car! A Mustang GT 550R is featured to an anonymous driver in Fast and Furious 4.

If you have seen Fast and Furious 7 then please give me your opinion of the film. I understand that it’s the highest opening film this year so far, but that may be because of the hype around it being Paul Walker’s last appearance in the franchise. Who wants to go on a date with me to see this movie 🙂 ?
